Grindon

The census records suggest that Grindon was a popular area for Travellers with two entries and a possible stopping place.

An entry in the 1911 census lists four members of the Smith family. Nothing in the census record confirms that they are Travellers but this not a rare occurence. However, no occupations are listed for any member of the family and they are at the end of the census record and just prior to a listing for William Buxton, a chimney sweep. William is listed as living in a barn at Martinslow.
